Bournville Cricket Club

Corley v Bournville Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 27 Apr 2013 at 1.30pm
Bournville Cricket Club Lost by 5 wickets

Match report Bournville opened the 2013 season with a disappointing loss away at Corley. New skipper Budden lost the toss and was asked to bat on a good pitch, which unfortunately Bournville were unable to take advantage of. Llewellyn started well to post 17, with Lloyd and Beech batting well in the middle for 24 and 13 respectively. Captain Budden was last man out after batting with the lower order for 23 but with no other player reaching double figures, Bournville set a modest 109 from 33 overs.

With a only a small target to chase, Corley set about cautiously with Maconachie chipping a Bullivant delivery to mid off, and when White had Higgins caught behind Bournville felt they may have a chance. However Rogers and Williams built a steady partnership to take the game away from Bournville, and although a late rally from Rob Ball to claim an impressive 3-12 off 5 overs including a good catch at slip from Spragg, it was soon all over after 27 overs with Bournville losing by 5 wickets.
