Bronze 3 v Bournville Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 06 Jul 2013 at 13:30
Bournville Cricket Club Lost by 104 runs

Match report Crisp Weather, a 1st defeat and Caldicott TV returns

A long trek out to Walsall on was in stall for Bournville as the weather was as crisp as anything.

On Route to set up at Trent Bridge for the 1st ashes test, Caldicott TV got wind of us playing not far from the M6 and decided to take a pit stop and check in on its local team playing.

Anders 'Dan' and Teflon 'Fleming' provided the commentary in a Atherton and Gower style for a another splendid pitch report. Pitch looked great for batting and make the opposition sweat in the field especially with the short boundary opposite the pavilion measured at roughly 50 feet.

Having lost the toss and made to field Bournville knew they were in for a long day.

Opening the bowling Guv and Anders took the new ball. Guv having done some home-work on his fielding positions was looking to impress the Aussie Selectors with some fine bowling.

Anders and Guv had both batsmen tied down with little chances given, until Anders nearly had Hill caught by Antoni but unfortunately Antoni dropped his 1st catch of the season. Caldictott TV replays showed that Antoni thought the ball was going over his head and as he started to jump the ball fell sharply and the catch was dropped.

As the weather was tiring the bowlers Ryan Curtis entered the game, and with some fine bowling nearly had both openers bowled as the ball just missed the off stump.

Sanjay was also brought into the attack and had a touch of the Josh Spragg special as he bowled 2 beamers and could not seem to grip the ball much. Bournville 3rds leading wicket unfortunately was not having a good day with the ball.

Ryan was rewarded as Hill attempted to attack the ball looped up to Antoni at mid-on who held onto the catch.

Kamalanam entered into the game and was very watchful at the start of his innings. Until he decided to open up.

Big 6's to the short boundary off the bowling of Ivory ensured that he reached his 50 quickly. Ivory was not producing the fine form he had been in all season.

A change of bowling was required and Antoni brought Guv back to continue the fine bowling he produced earlier.

Guv was rewarded quickly as he had Stocking caught LBW for 49. Guv's excellent bowling was rewarded for once.

Quickly after Guv struck again with another LBW decision.

King Dev was brought into the attack after recovering from his recent back injury to claim the wicket of Kamalanem as he bowled the batsman for 71.

King Dev then claimed his 2nd wicket as Teflon stumped Sandhu for 13, after some more excellent bowling from the King.

A last wicket stand helped Bronze climb to 220 for 5, as Sanjay and Anders returned and were unable to get the break through.

Bournville were unable to bowl a team out for the 1st time this season, as the team were shattered from the sun and couldn't wait for Tea.

Bournville started the run chase with The Juggler Nigel White and Tan opening the batting. Unfortunately for Bournville Tan was clean bowled looking to play a shot to the legside boundary.

Dev and Antoni soon followed in quick succession as Bournville toiled.

Nigel was batting well and scoring freely as wickets were falling all around him.

Raj and Teflon also soon followed back to the Pavilion without troubling the bowlers.

Ryan and Nigel were starting to form a decent partnership until Nigel following the rest back to the pavilion.

From his heroics last week Guv was caught behind as Bournville were starring down the barrel at their 1st defeat of the season.

Sanjay sporting a new moustache scored freely as he able to score with freedom. 4 big sixs were to follow to give the travelling team something to cheer about.

Ryan was feeding off this and also started to play more positive until he skied a delivery just before drinks straight to point.

Another hero from last week didn't last long as Mike Ivory was clean bowled bringing Anders to the crease.

Anders sporting a new bat also looked to play positive as a quick 2 runs called for a quick drinks break of his own. Anders the scored a beautiful 4 and then the innings was brought to a close as Sanjay was clean bowled.

Bournville losing by 104 runs, and crashing to the 1st defeat of the season.

Im sure this game will not be shown much on Calidcott TV as there was not much write home about and the team will look to move quickly onto the game next and ensure a fight back to gain victorious.

Luckily for Bournville they currently remain 2nd in the league table level on points with the league now getting tighter for the 2nd place spot as Shenley Fields have started to pull away.
