Match report Day for batting, best pitch of the season but brings another loss

Bournville went into the game against Streetly looking to spring back with a win after last week’s heavy defeat to Bronze.

Via the red button today Calidcott TV announced that they were present to compile a quick pitch report and that all major highlights would be shown once the test match had commenced on Sky Sports.

Pitch report in and this time joined by returning Josh ‘The Beamer’ Spragg as the pitch at Barrows Lane was looking the best we have seen it all season, and should produce something for the batsmen this time around.

Bournville won the toss and decided to bat. New Opening pair Nigel ‘The Juggler’ White and Captain Antoni looked to form a positive start which would hopefully last longer than the 3 ball partnership from the week before.

The Streetly captain Mayan kept things very quiet from the ‘Lost Ball Forrest’ end, Antoni and Nigel started to score freely from the other. Antoni pulling off some well-timed pull shots that raced to the boundary on the quick outfield.

The new opening pair put on a well-deserved 50 run partnership and all short deliveries were punished as hook shots from Antoni & Nigel frustrated the bowling attack.

Antoni was batting well scoring freely from Randall with some more pull shots. This shot has seen Antoni get most of his runs this season. A full delivery which bounced a little steeper caught Antoni by surprise and the ball looped back to the bowler for Bournville 1st wicket to fall.

Raj entered at number 3 as King Dev decided to bat lower down since recovering from injury and doing Bournville a massive favour by offering to bat with only 10 present for Bournville.

Raj playing his usual flamboyant style scored quickly and was forming a good partnership with The Juggler. Unfortunately Raj fell victim of his own success as he was eventually caught from the bowling off Handsaker, the leg spinner grabbing his 1st wicket.

Matty Kemp playing his 3rd game of the season for the 3rds was looking to break the run of ducks that were following him to the crease. Unluckily for Matty another duck was added to his scorecard as a positive shot was well caught from the bowling of O’Doherty.

Sporting his Mario Brothers moustache Sanjay entered the pitch looking to continue his batting prowess from the previous week. Sanjay mixing his attacking and defensive play well smashed some super 6s deep into the ‘Lost Ball Forrest’ end.

During the time of falling wickets Nigel had moved nicely into the 40’s, looking to score his 1st 50 of the season.

As Sanjay was scoring quickly at the other end Nigel was batting with such ease and finesse as he soon reached the 50 mark with a loud applause from the Bournville balcony.

Soon after a free flowing of runs took Nigel into the 70’s until he was dismissed by bowling of O’Doherty clean bowled.

King Dev was in next but his innings was cut short from the bowling of Handsaker as he played the ball straight to the wicket keeper.

Sanjay was making batting look easy as more 6s and 4s followed.

Sanjay hit an amazing shot down the ground which looked as if it was going all the way for another big 6 until it was caught on the line which raised doubts if the catch was legitimate or not only if we had the 3rd umpire to call on this occasion.

Bournvilles hopes now rested on Teflon, having not scored a run in a while was looking to dig in. After nudging a run to square leg that’s all that Teflon made as he played no shot to the bowling of Handsaker and was given out LBW.

Guv and Mo were the next 2 men in for Bournville, Guv was not timing the ball as well as he had liked, while Mo was also given out LBW to the bowling of Handsaker. Josh scored a quick couple of runs before chipping the ball to midwicket.

Dan added some lively entertainment at the end of the innings as he also scored another boundary, and some stylish batting of blocking and stroke making as he looks to move up the batting order, with a tidy 7 not out Bournville ended on a total of 207 for 9 off 50 overs.

Bournville started off very positive with Dan and Guv bowling well. Early wickets are to be crucial to fight for the win. Bournville were rewarded early on as Telfon held onto a catch from the bowling of Guv.

Handsaker was next to follow as Josh held onto a sharp catch from the bowling of Caldicott putting Bournville on top or so we thought.

Little else went Bournvilles was as Wain and Randall took the attack to all of Bournville bowlers as economy rates suffered all over. Things could have gone swung back in Bournville way if a couple of catches had been taken as both batsmen were dropped shortly after drinks.

Nigel White enjoying his debut bowling spell kept the batsmen tied down a little but runs flowed from the other end.

As the game was coming to a close Guv bowled Randall for 48, but this was not enough for Bournville to commence a fight back.

Bournville suffered their 2nd defeat in succession and slipped further down the table to 6th but the league is very close and Bournville have a game in hand which if results went their way would project them back into the top 3.

Bournville travel to 4 Oaks next week needing a win in order to get ensure they remain the promotion fight.
